Update: The Dodgers are still interested in a potential trade with the Devil
Rays involving Baldelli, Fox Sports reports.
Recommendation: Baldelli missed all of 2005 and the first two months of the
2006 season due to multiple injuries (knee, then elbow, then hamstring).
However, he put up great numbers in the second half of the 2006 season, and
that performance, plus his relatively cheap contract, has made him the center
of trade rumors all winter. However, the Rays have Baldelli penciled in as
their regular center fielder and leadoff hitter to start the spring, and it's
evident it'll take a great offer (likely involving two young major-league-ready
starting pitchers) to get the Rays to seriously consider trading Baldelli.
