It took me a lot of time to absorb all the feedback you gave me.
Practicing every day makes me feel pressured.
I need to adjust the frequency of my practice.
Please change it to every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Hi! I'm Ms. Sunny. Today, we're going to continue learning about the simple pr
esent tense.
In the simple present tense, the verb can change depending on the subject.
Do you know what a subject is?
The subject is the main person or thing in a sentence.
For example:
He likes playing basketball.
Who likes playing basketball?
He does!
So he is the subject of this sentence.
Does that make sense?
That's a great question!
Let me ask you: in the sentence “My brother likes playing basketball,” who i
s the main person?
It's my brother, right? Not the basketball.
So you're correct! My brother is the subject.
Now, we're going to learn about the third person. If there's a third person, t
here must also be a first person and a second person. Listen carefully!
The first person is I, which means「我」.
The second person is you, which means「你」.
And examples of the third person are he, she, and it.
He is used for a male person, she is used for a female person, and it is often
used for a thing or an animal when we don't specify its sex.
Does that make sense?
Let me give you a quick question. If I point to a boy and want to say「他」, w
hich word should I use: he, she, or it?
Let's think about your question together.
We know that the dog is male, so you're right! We can use he for a male dog. T
hat's a great question!
Now, let's learn what happens to a verb when the subject is he, she, or it.
In the simple present tense, when the subject is he, she, or it, we usually ad
d -s or -es to the verb.
For example:
He takes a vacation.
The original verb is take, and we add -s, so it becomes takes.
Sometimes, we add -es instead. For example, look at the verb go:
She goes to the library every day.
We say goes, not gos.
Now it's your turn! Can you make a sentence using he, she, or it? Let's see if
you can use the verb correctly!
Okay, let me check your answer.
You wrote watchs, so let's learn when we add -s and when we add -es to a verb.
We can put these verb changes into four groups.
First, for most verbs, we simply add -s:
eat → eats
play → plays
Second, when a verb ends in -s, -x, -z, -ch, or -sh, we usually add -es:
wash → washes
Third, when a verb ends in a consonant + y, we change the y to i and add -es:
study → studies
Finally, there are some special forms you need to remember:
have → has
go → goes
do → does
Now, let's go back to your sentence.
Look at the verb watch. It ends in -ch.
Which group does watch belong to?
I / we → 第一人称
you → 第二人称
he / she / it / they / Tom / my mother / the dog... → 第三人称
而你今天真正要教的是:
第三人称「单数」
He plays.
She plays.
Tom plays.
My brother plays.
这里甚至有一个非常适合下一次测学生的陷阱:
My brother plays basketball.
学生如果只背:
he / she / it → +s
看到 my brother 可能就不知道要加 s。
所以你真正希望学生建立的是:
一个第三者/东西作主词 → 第三人称单数 → 动词变化
而不是只认三个单字 he / she / it。
② 「it = 不是人类」不要这样教
这点你後来处理我的「公狗」问题处理得不错。
如果学生一开始学成:
人 → he/she
不是人 → it
之後会遇到很多例外。
对初学小朋友,你可以简化成:
he → 男性
she → 女性
it → 通常用於事物,或性别不重要/不知道的动物
知道宠物性别时,使用 he / she 很自然。
③ -s / -es 的分类再精确一点
你今天分成四类的思路很好,非常适合小学生整理规则。
但可以调整成:
A. 一般情况 → +s
play → plays
eat → eats
B. 某些字尾 → +es
watch → watches
wash → washes
fix → fixes
go → goes
do → does
C. 子音 + y → y 改 ies
study → studies
try → tries
但是这里一定要小心:
play → plays
不能变成 plaies。
因为 play 是:
母音 a + y
只有子音 + y才变成 -ies。
D. 特殊变化
have → has
这样比把 goes / does / has 全部放进「不规则」更准确。
下一次我们可以开始练:
少讲一点 → 问一题 → 学生回答 → 再教下一点。
例如不要直接说:
watch 结尾是 ch,所以加 es。
可以写:
play → plays
eat → eats
watch → ?
然後问:
“What do you notice?”
让学生先猜。
最後花 2 分钟问三题:
① Choose:
He ___ basketball every day.
A. play B. plays
② Correct:
She watchs TV every day.
→ ________
③ Create:
Make your own sentence using he / she / it.
如果三题都会:
辨认 → 修正 → 自己产出
那你才有比较充分的证据知道:
「好,这个学生今天真的学会了。」
但是学生的体验会从:
老师讲主词 → 老师讲三种人称 → 老师讲第三人称单数 → 老师讲动词规则 → 学生记
变成:
看例句 → 回答 → 发现主词 → 回答 → 发现第三人称 → 回答 → 发现单数 → 观察
句子 → 自己发现 +s
