January graduated from his Massachusetts high school early to begin his
collegiate career, but he opted to attend San Jacinto (Texas) CC instead of
Louisiana State, where he had originally signed. January showed the
lefthanded power that was expected and plenty of bat speed. January has a
chance to be an average hitter with above-average power. Where he'll end up
playing is more of a question. January has worked at catcher and right field
but he ended up predominantly at DH for San Jac. He has the tools to catch
with above-average arm strength, but he needs refinement and a team may opt
to move him to the outfield full-time to let him focus on his power potential.
