最近在翻译字体设计类的文章， 有一些术语不知道翻得贴不贴切，想请教大家: stroke width 笔划宽度 display types 特排字体 text types 正文字体 character set 字符集 1. The problems you encounter tend to be along the lines of grid restriction (网格限制). Like, what the hell do you do with the letter "S"? 请问网格限制和字母S有什麽关系呢？ 2. They'll gain insights into the very different skills that typeface designers employ, especially the ability to work in parallel with small scales and patterns within paragraphs. （他们可深入了解字体设计师应用的不同技巧，尤其是行文内……的技能。） 请问此处的small scales 和 patterns是什麽意思？ 3. We are against type designs that have no sense of proportion（比例）, spacing（间距）and coherence（一致性）. 4. Great Sans comes in 10 weights and four widths- Compressed, Condensed, Normal and Expanded. （Great Sans有10种粗细和4种宽度，分别为缩窄、压挤、一般和拉宽。） （Great Sans字体：www.typotheque.com/blog/greta_system） 5. After identifying the idea, I test it in a word, usually creating a small drawing. （确定想法後，我先草拟一个字，通常是小字） Typefaces are easy to start drawing, but very difficult to complete. 请问这两句的drawing是否是草拟的意思？ 6. 以下三句都是在讲字体Killer： The result was Killer, with its sidebar serifs forming the central focus of the reader's eye. He removed the sidebars, which made it fell much less aggressive and more fluid. 请问sidebar在此是什麽意思? 侧边栏? In effect it's a stencil font- albeit a very elaborate one- as there are no joins between the two halves of the type. I think it really comes into its own when you shade it or colour the different sections in separately. （由於字体中间没有相连，所以其实它是模版印刷的字体，但是设计十分精细。 把字体加上阴影或个别在不同的……上色，就能看出Killer的精细之处。） 请问stencil font是否为 模版印刷的字体？sections是什麽意思呢？ 谢谢。 --
