RECAP OF THE CONFRONTATIONS BETWEEN DEPOR AND JUVE The history between Deportivo La Coruna and Juventus is very recent but some people consider this confrontation already as a "classic" in Europe. These two clubs have played six games between them for the Champions League and all of these matches occurred in the last three editions of the Champions League. The final results are very equal: one victory for each side and four draws. The first confrontation between Juve and Depor was in the season 2000/2001. It was the first participation of the Galician team in the Champions League. Depor achieved a 0-0 draw in Delli Alpi and a draw was repeated in Riazor, this time a 1-1 score. The two goals in this match were scored by Inzaghi (Juventus) and Victor Sanchez (Deportivo). On this occasion both teams conquered the two tickets to the second round. The third confrontation was last season as both teams were again in the same group of the second round. This time Deportivo wasted a advantage of two goals in the first match in Riazor and the match ended with a 2-2 draw. The goals of Depor were scored by Tristan and Makaay while Juventus scored by a sensational shot from Birindelli and one from Nedved. The second match was played on March 12, 2003 and was the only victory of the Italians against Depor. The 3-2 final score of that day eliminated the Galician side from the Champions League. The goals of Depor were, again, scored by Tristan and Makaay. Juventus conquered the victory with goals from Ferrara, Trezeguet and Tudor, as last mentioned player scored in the 92nd minute. Curiously Depor had a 62% of possession in that match but it wasn't enough to avoid the undeserved defeat.
