光看这个组合就觉得很好笑... 亏他们想得出来... IRURETA AND TRISTAN Last Friday both coach Javier Irureta and striker Diego Tristan were asked by a Spanish journalist to sit at the same table and to answer some questions. Irureta was the first to arrive and he was followed some minutes later by Diego Tristan, who had to attend a press conference. But this interview reveals that that relationship is better as expected as only smiles were going around. Q: How have Irureta and Tristan come into the world of football? Tristan: As a little boy I always liked to play football. I played it everywhere, including in our home. Of course I broke something now and then. Irureta: I had more or less the same experience as Diego. When I was 10-years old I played football at school, in the neighbourhood and on the beach... I did it because it was the most practised sport in Irun. But I also did athletics, pelota etc. Q: What would you be doing if you hadn't become active in the world of football? T: When I started playing it I couldn’t imagine myself coming this far. But at the same time I also couldn't see myself doing other things. This attitude caused a lot of headaches to my dad and he didn't knew what to do with me. I: For sure I would have done something with my study as engineer. Of my seven brothers and sisters two others are in that business. I come from a family of two girls and five boys. (夭寿...Irureta家里怎麽这麽多小孩啊 @@ ) Q: Why do you think coaches without a big appearance are the fashion right now? I: I don't think it's a fashion thing. There are other sectors in the world of football which have claimed headlines. For example, there are some presidents who spent a lot of money and they need certain types of coaches. But I also think that a coach adapts to the titles he has won. T: I agree. The example is Real Madrid, a team full of stars which makes it complicated for the coach if he wants to survive all that. But coaches like Del Bosque or Queiroz at Madrid and the mister here are doing a great job. Q: Does a coach need to be harsh to control his players? I: It's not a good thing to confront all the time. Of course one needs a good left hand, like the bull fighters. Sometimes one needs to silence a player or several players and not to attach too much value to certain things. It's very important to know your players. T: (smiling) I am not the coach so I have no clue about this! (......XD) Q: But as a player, what about military discipline? I: But if the military would not do this... T: The truth is that handling 25 players is very complicated and I would not like to be a coach. Q: So you won't be a coach in the future? T: Well, I don't know. I still want to enjoy playing football for some more years. But after it I have no clue what will happen. I: I also didn't think about becoming a coach. But I finished my career being 32-years old and wanted to do something. And that's how it all started. Q: What's your opinion about the press? T: It's a necessary and important aspect of football. I: The press plays an important part. But one thing is to inform and another to give an opinion. One notes that some journalists are friends of some players... and one should know how to make an interpretation of this. But like Diego says, without the press football wouldn't be so important. The differences between the media also gives much life to it. Q: Does criticism have its influence? T: It's difficult to see it having effect on me on the pitch. But if one's treated badly it's never a benefit. I: Sometimes the press makes you think although one has to be very analytical to discover the messages. But I admit that if the press gave me a zero when I was still player it affected me. Q: Do you think that the gossip press will invade the sport press? T: It shouldn't be like that because players don't make a living selling their private lifes but playing football. I: It's already happening. And if certain things arrive it could mean that within some years there will be a sport-gossip press. Q: What’s your biggest worry most in the current society? I: The general violence is something that attracts my attention. It seems incredible to me that within a developed society certain things happen on a daily basis. T: I don't understand why wars are still being fought. It would be great if all people could life in peace. Q: Is the money going around in football exaggerated? T: In football a point has been reached at which the whole world makes a lot of money. Not only the players or the coaches, but everything related to them. I: I think more or less like Diego. We have free markets here and the money is distributed like what one should earn. Q: But will you start looking differently at certain things? T: I have a family and never will lose some values which have brought me here. I: It's true that money helps you to avoid certain economic problems. But for the rest the same problems count. Besides, many players come from the lower classes as not much sons of ministers have become a professional players. Q: Which player could complete this list: Pele, Di Stefano, Cruyff, Maradona...? T: Maybe Zidane can one day. I: Yes, maybe Zidane or Ronaldo. Because of their charisma and the titles they have won. Q: How can referees become better? T: It's not attractive to be a referee. One gives a penalty and the whole of Spain doesn't agree with it. But imagine that this person must make a decision within a second. And the players make life hard for them. I: I think making them professionals could help to reduce the mistakes made. In any case the circumstances would be shaped to reduce them. Q: What's lacking the Spanish squad? I: Conviction, above all. But they need some time to work together because the current schedule means that one almost has no time before the tournament. T: To me the Spanish team is very important, and I think the main problem is that many people don't agree with me. In any country the national team is important, but not in Spain. The clubs are more important here. On Wednesday the national team played but the whole of Spain kept on talking about the penalty of Raul. Q: Finally, will the national elections of 14 March have some effect on football? I: I don't think it will have any influence. But I hope that they keep on protecting it as it's very important for our country. T: I don't know much about football, but I ask the winners to take care of football to keep the Liga being the best competition in the world. --
