In the Liga the team is still not responding as expected while the Copa del Rey participation is in serious danger. And next week Basel will await Deportivo for a vital Champions League clash in Switzerland. Doctor Cesar Cobian of Deportivo mentioned during a press conference that goalkeeper Molina and midfielder Valeron "are participating again in the group sessions and it only depends on their technical recocovery to make their return." About Fran he said that "there was a setback in his progress although this week we will built up his daily activities" while Victor Sanchez "already is training with the ball again and he will rejoin the group when the pain has completely disappeared." All this indicates that the creative line of Deportivo could be recovered in time for the vital clashes against Basel although the Liga match of Saturday at Valladolid could come to soon. As Diego Tristan will be suspended for the sending off on Sunday and Acuna and Pablo Amo also are injured, Deportivo coach Irureta will have problems again when considering which team to use. Of the injured players only Valeron seems to have a realistic chance of a come-back. But will Irureta want to use him again in an away match against Valladolid? Against this team his problems started in September when midfielder Pena deliberately kicked him off the pitch. The answer is "probably not", and the supporters could expect to see Valeron’s return in Basel or at home to Alaves. Irureta has all the right to complain about the bad luck his team has had this season so far as the injury problems are mounting again.
