I couldn't have prepared for this any more than I did with all the offseason training. Here I am, wanting to do so well, but it's so early. My timing was off. I didn't have many opportunities. I felt really good on defense. I think the work I did this offseason paid off there. I caught two guys I hadn't caught ever -- Scot Shields and Huston Street. Here we are in the biggest game of our lives, and that's the first time I caught them. I went out to the mound 10 times, and I got booed 20 times by the Mexican fans. I set a personal best for mound visits today. I felt he took me under his wing and guided me through the pressure of playing in games like that. He relied on me at times, and I relied on him at times. The experience and all that was priceless. I've heard that about him. Brad Ausmus told me I would love working with him, and I have. He's a competitor. Going down to the bullpen and warming up Roger for what could be his last start was really cool. When he wanted to jog in, I thought that was awesome. He was really excited about this. I want him to keep playing because I think his stuff is still as good as he's had in the last couple years. Catching [Greg] Maddux and now Clemens, I think they have the same feeling about leaving the game on a positive note. They put so much into it. I just hope Clemens can leave with one of the best baseball experiences he could have. I did throw in a serious sales pitch about coming and playing for the Chicago Cubs. I said, "Roger, you want to leave this game with the best baseball experience you could have? I don't think it could get any better than putting on a Cubs uniform and winning a World Series for the Cubbies." He laughed.
