His group, the Zozimos, won 1st place in the Bob Stewart Tuba Competition at the 38th Duke Ellington Jazz Festival. Stapp also received the Roulette Large Ensemble Commission and most recently, the Jerome Roulette Commission for his Opera, "Myrrha's Red Book". Stapp has performed, recorded, and/or toured with several top-tier ensembles from a variety of musical disciplines including such groups as Steven Bernstein's Universal Melody Brass, Red Baraat, the International Contemporary Ensemble, Joel Harrison’s 19 (Sunnyside), Mino Cinelu's World Jazz Ensemble, Slavic Soul Party, Banda de los Muertos, the Ben Stapp Trio (Uqbar Music) with Satoshi Takeishi and Tony Malaby, and Stephen Haynes’ Quintet (New Atlantis) featuring, Warren Smith, William Parker and Joe Morris. http://www.benstapp.com/ --- ● 张幼欣 Sayun Chang 击乐家张幼欣，自幼在客家与原住民文化的薰陶下，接受了西洋古典音乐的训练，同时， 不断地学习世界各地的传统音乐。演奏风格多元的她，毕业於国立台北艺术大学音乐系和 美国哈特福大学哈特音乐院硕士班，多次於美加地区参与现代音乐节的演出，也与台湾原 住民艺术团体赴希腊、土耳其、匈牙利和西班牙的民俗艺术节演出。近年来，与波多黎各 的吉他手组成 Kaleidos之万象二重奏，改编创作了许多包含台湾的歌谣。也曾出版许多 张合作专辑，与自由即兴和爵士乐手合作录制，并也曾日本前鼓童团员Kaoru Watanabe发 行合作表演专辑。 Taiwanese percussionist Sayun Chang’s musical skills range from traditional and contemporary classical to many diverse disciplines of world music. As an active musician, she has performed at many contemporary music festivals across North America. Her collaborations with Taiwanese Indigenous dance groups has also brought her to countries such as Canada, Turkey, Greece, Hungary, and Spain. In recent years, she has collaborated with Puerto Rican guitarist Yovianna Garcia on recreating folk songs from around the world. Besides, she has also studied and recorded with Japanese taiko artist Kaoru Watanabe in New York City. She holds degrees from The Hartt School and Taipei National University of the Arts. --- ● 张登尧 Deng-Yao Chang 1984年生於新竹，美国马里兰艺术学院艺术创作硕士，2010年回台後持续从事艺术展演、 策划与推广至今，并成立江山艺改所艺文空间。自幼学习钢琴与二胡多年，并参与乐团演 出，聆听音乐类型广泛，从古典传统到前卫实验，近年开始尝试以二胡进行自由即兴与噪 音演奏。 Born 1984 and also based in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Deng-Yao Chang received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD. He has been constantly working on artistic practice, curatorial practice and art promotion since returning to Taiwan in 2010. He founded the art+performance space "Jiang Shan Yi Gai Suo". He learned to play piano and erhu for many years when in young ages and participated in a well-known local Chinese orchestra. He enjoys listening to music comprehensively, from very classical or traditional to extremely avant-garde or exprimental.
