约翰一书5:7-8节的”三位一体”经文被称为”约翰引句”(Comma Johanneum)。 KJV的”约翰引句”(桃红色字体)经文： 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." 目前已知几千份希腊文古卷抄本中，只有8份有”约翰引句”[1]， 大多数抄写在抄本边缘的空白处。[2] 其中最早的”约翰引句”抄本出现在第10世纪。 所有古代抄本的叙利亚文，科普特文，亚美尼亚文，衣索匹亚文， 阿拉伯文，斯拉夫文抄本也完全找不到”约翰引句”。 最早引用”约翰引句”字句的人是三世纪初的教父圣居普良(St. Cyprian,死於258)， 他的着作”合一的大公教会”说明三位一体的字句有部分”约翰引句”： De catholicae ecclesiae unitate 6, he says, “The Lord says, ‘I and the Father are one’; and again it is written of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, ‘And these three are one.’”[2] 四世纪的拉丁文讲道集”护教书”也含有”约翰引句”的认知，并且认为 约翰一书5:7-8节附近的经文说明三位一体（与”约翰引句”的论证相同）： 4th century Latin homily Liber Apologeticus, probably written by Priscillian of Avila (died 385), or his close follower Bishop Instantius.
