We edged the early moments of the half without creating a clear-cut opportunity, nonetheless we nullified the threats of our opponents. Our endeavour and pressure were rewarded as some great work on the left from Thomas led to a dangerous cross into the box which found the head of Zain Silcott-Duberry. He cushioned a header to Mendel-Idowu who was on hand to nod home. https://i.imgur.com/GJN6cPU.jpg Tudor Mendel-Idowu scored a brace today with one early in the first half and another late in the second We should have doubled our lead moments later as a fast break led by Thomas allowed Stutter to be played through and he used his pace well to beat his man and find Mendel-Idowu. Fantastic feet from the youngster allowed him to beat his man but with just the keeper to beat Tommy Simkin made an unbelievable save to keep the score at just 1-0. A dubious offside call prevented us from doubling our lead as Stutter tucker away following a Mendel-Idowu through ball. We got our deserved second to give ourselves a cushion. After a long stoppage in play due to injury we restarted play quicker than our opponents. A Thomas and Mendel-Idowu combination found Leo Castledine, he dinked in behind the Stoke defence and Stutter beat the keeper to the ball to give us a safety net. https://i.imgur.com/run0HAk.jpg Ronnie Stutter gave us a nice cushion on the stroke of half-time The second half started with our boys in the ascendancy as Stutter and Thomas both had opportunities to give us a third, but it was Stoke who were given an opportunity to half the deficit as they were awarded a dubious penalty following a Thomas challenge. Emre Tezgel stepped up, but Ted Curd stood strong and saved with his feet. A loose ball in the middle led to a counter-attack as Stutter picked up the ball and drove at the defence. He slipped in Thomas who finished with his left foot giving him the goal his performance deserved. Five minutes later we scored a fourth and again it came from a counter, Billy Gee charging goalwards with the ball before his shot forced the keeper to make a save. However he could not push it away from danger as Mendel-Idowu was on hand to poke it in. There was enough time to score a fifth and it was a fantastic effort from Josh Tobin who from just inside his own half took a free-kick catching everyone by surprise going for goal.
