It is also where he began and finished his professional playing career. After retiring from playing in 2012, Flo returned to Chelsea, initially working in our Academy before his role mentoring players during their time on loan at other clubs. As a player at Chelsea, Flo was one of the stars of the golden, trophy-winning period under Gianluca Vialli at the end of the 1990s and very start of the new Millennium. In one calendar year, 1998, he was part of the side that won three trophies, the League Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and Super Cup, and added to those with the FA Cup in 2000. Flo was also topscorer in our first-ever season in the Champions League, 1999/00, most memorably netting three times over two legs against Barcelona in an ultimately unsuccessful quarter-final.
