Frank Lampard, Chelsea's England midfielder, was attacked by a Spurs fan as he celebrated Chelsea's 2-1 win in front of the visiting support. Lampard , who had already thrown his shirt into the crowd, was rescued by Rui Faria, Chelsea's fitness coach, and his team-mate Didier Drogba before stewards and police intervened to arrest the intruder. A second pitch invader, who is understood to be a Chelsea fan, was also arrested. There was further ill feeling on the bench as Baltemar Brito, Chelsea's assistant manager, argued with his Tottenham counterpart, Chris Hughton, and Clive Allen, another former Spurs man now on the coaching staff. In addition Martin Jol, the Tottenham manager, went down the tunnel without shaking hands with Chelsea staff, apparently angered both by the visitors' time-wasting and Jose Mourinho publicly celebrating victory just five yards in front of Jol, with his coach, Steve Clarke, before the final whistle had blown.
