For the past fortnight he has been highlighting the difference in physical condition he expects between Chelsea’s early season opponents and his players. Liverpool, with far less player involvement in the World Cup had five friendlies dating back to July 15th and a Champions League qualifier under their belt prior to kick-off. It was Chelsea’s fourth game in eight days.
