He was joined in missing Tuesday's session by striker Miloslav Klose but a spokesman for the German soccer association (DFB) said on Tuesday: “Ballack is doing a full workout today but due to fitness reasons and regeneration methods without a ball. France has the oldest average age of any country in the tournament but such know-how in the side was crucial to the win over Spain according to the 33 year-old midfielder, who personally had an influential game. “In these type of games, you need experience,” Makelele said.“We had spoken about it prior to the game. Italy take on Shevchenko's Ukraine in the later of the day's two games but Alessandro Nesta is unlikely to be fit for the Azzurri. The centre-back who has 77 caps to his name knows the talents of Chelsea's new striker well. The two played the last four seasons together at Milan and Nesta wouldn't fancy facing the game in anything less than full working order. “In order to limit Shevchenko you have to be 100 per cent,” he has said in the build-up. “You have to keep close to him for 90 minutes. There is no room for errors because he has almost no defects.” Even without Nesta, Shevchenko will reacquaint himself with former team-mates in Hamburg.
