The invitation came from Chelsea's official club sponsor Samsung. Samsung is the proud sponsor of this year's Winter Olympics which run from February 10th to 26th. As part of the global sporting occasion, Samsung has also spearheaded the Olympic Torch Relay throughout its journey around Italy. In recognition of the increasingly strong bonds between Chelsea and Samsung, Peter Kenyon agreed to run a stage of the prestigious relay in Venice on Tuesday. Chelsea, like Samsung backs the Olympic movement. In December 2004 we became the first Premiership team to announce official support for the London 2012 Olympic bid, chaired by staunch Chelsea supporter Lord Coe.
