(周日，足球偶像的唯一赢家揭晓了。) Hurrell, a 17 year-old left-back from Ickenham, north-west London, was chosen ahead of over 5000 thousand 16-17 year-olds trialled across the country. (17岁的山姆从5000多人中脱颖而出。) Over the past eight weeks, viewers of Football Icon on Sky One have seen the original thousands cut down initially to 12 players who embarked on six weeks of coaching at the Chelsea Youth Academy. Week-by-week the numbers were further reduced until just three remained by the final programme. Then he told me that I'd won and I couldn't believe it really. I had a cheeky smile and a laugh when he told me. (山姆超级超级超级超级高兴。) “I walked out with all the other finalists and their parents cheering me. It was a great feeling. It was so emotional that day. He grew up idolising Gianfranco Zola and John Terry. (他想赢得竞赛，但是蓝衣，让他更想赢。) One of the aims of Football Icon was to discover if is possible that talent good enough to play at a professional club has slipped through the net. Hurrell is evidence that it is. (山姆证明自己的实力配得上职业足球。) Unlike most of the 12 selected for training, he had no previous contact or trials with a league club. He had been playing his football at semi-pro level in the Combined Counties League. That was until his mother spotted an advert for the competition in a magazine. From that moment there was no looking back. (不像其他11人，山姆从未去其他职业俱乐部试训过，只踢过半职业足球。) Hurrell's selection as winner had nothing to do with his Chelsea- supporting roots and everything to do with the belief he can progress and play games with the Chelsea youth team. Already he is training full-time with the Under 18 squad and he played 90 minutes for the youth team in their impressive 3-1 win over Arsenal last month. Midfielder Gradosielski has been kept on at the Chelsea Academy on a non-contract basis. He will remain in education, train part-time and be available for selection at weekends.
