DEL HORNO: The return will depend on daily evaluation of my fitness. I hope to play against Liverpool in the Champions League at the end of the month. That is the date we have pencilled into the diary, but you never know till the time comes. From first contact to the actual transfer was a two-month period. Jose Mourinho rang me early on, we had a chat and it all seemed done. I went on holiday and the story dragged on. The press kept asking me about it and I really did not have a clue on what my future was going to be, if I was going to continue at Athletic Bilbao or if I would go. Eventually I had another call from Chelsea. I quickly made my way to London, the Athletic chairman came too, and we were all very happy in the end. Athletic Bilbao used the money they got from your transfer to renovate the team. Does that make you feel happy? DEL HORNO: That was always the plan. With the money from my transfer or any other transfer, Athletic were going to be able to renew the contracts of everybody else. They have a very young, talented team, a good generation of Basque players. They did not want to let anybody go. That is their future. It's a great squad, we were very close to the cup final last year and they could try for the same target this season. The club wanted some money to guarantee the future of the key members of the side, like Iraola, Yeste and Orbaiz and they all got new contracts. Athletic Bilbao, with their policy of only playing Basques, are probably the most romantic story in football while Chelsea, with their billions, are the newcomers and able to sign players from everywhere around the world. DEL HORNO: They are totally different. But I have been surprised that despite all the different nationalities at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has managed to create a united group. It is a bit like my old team. We come from different places but surprisingly all get on very well. What do you think of the weather in England? (英国的天气你觉得如何?) DEL HORNO: You never know what to leave the house wearing! You wake up in the morning and think, 'ah, good weather' but then it all changes. It can rain three or four times in a single day, a bit different to Bilbao. (你永远不知道出门时该怎麽穿！早上醒来看看外面，你会想︰「嗯，天气不错。」但不 不到一会就变天，有时一天下雨三四次。) You've been in the English league a few weeks. What do you think are the main differences between the Premiership and La Liga? (你已经在英超一小段时间，英超和西甲最大的差别在哪?) DEL HORNO: The English league is harder to play in, physically I mean. There is a lot more contact. In the Premiership referees don't book you so much as in the Spanish league. Despite the physical contact not as many free-kicks are given, so that helps the pace of the game. There is a lot more direct long balls, but those benefit my game. So it hasn't taken me long to adapt. (最想念西班牙什麽? 当你父母来探望你时，你请他们带什麽给你?) DEL HORNO: During pre-season, when we are training morning and afternoon, I missed my friends mostly. I used to go training, and then go for a walk with my friends. I cannot do that anymore. I spend a lot of time at home. During holidays they come over to see me, so I don't feel alone. I also miss the food, you can't eat properly in London, so I have to apply my cuisine knowledge and eat at home. I will get used to all that. And my mum brings me Spanish ham and cold meats that I can't do without!
