The club and the Dubai based airline have been in partnership for the past five seasons. Chelsea will now begin the search for a suitable replacement sponsor. Commenting on the decision, Chelsea’s Business Affairs Director, Paul Smith, said: “Emirates has been an excellent sponsor for us over the past five seasons. The relationship has reinforced the identity of the club while Chelsea has also been an excellent showcase for the sponsorship. “Research shows that Emirates have benefited significantly in image terms from the association and the worldwide brand coverage for Emirates, over the last 18 months in particular, has been exceptional with Chelsea being in the spotlight so much. “Although we regard Emirates highly, we believe the best type of sponsor for Chelsea, as the club embarks on a new global era, is a consumer brand.
