He was selected last night after being interviewed by both our own Academy manager Neil Bath and Jose Mourinho. He will succeed Steve Clarke and caretaker coach Gerry Harvey who will return to his duties as Education and Welfare Officer. Gerry, however, remains in command for the home game with Cardiff tomorrow, Saturday. Neil says: “Brendan spent nine years at Reading as a player and coach. He played for Northern Ireland and had to retire early through injury. He coached in their Academy, coached the Under 16s and was promoted to youth coach and Academy manager. “He was chosen out of a strong field of applicants. His desire and enjoyment of working with young people, his incredible enthusiasm and open- mindedness were important.
