Per Stevens: No timeline on Gordon Hayward yet, but surgery may actually
shorten the process.

Brad Stevens on Gordon Hayward to reporters in San Antonio: “Broken hand. No
timeline. He’s going to meet with the doctors tomorrow and decide if he needs
to do surgery or not. Sounds like, should he decide that, the surgery option
might actually be a better timeline.”
More Brad: “Doesn’t feel nearly as bad as it did two years ago. He’ll be
back. But he’ll be off for a few weeks, or a month, or whatever it is."

By video,
#GordonHayward @celtics appears to have spiral 4th metacarpal
fracture. Happens before the collision as he gets finger caught in the
opponents jersey. Likely surgery with plate and screws and returns in
4-6 weeks.

Have heard that the early x-rays on Gordon Hayward indicated that he fractured
his left fourth metacarpal. That's the bone in in his ring finger that is
closest to the palm of the hand. This is often known as a "Boxer's Fracture".
This is often treated with a split for 3 weeks.

3 weeks seems to be the absolute best case scenario, but not overly realistic.
In the best case, that could be when he returns to basketball activity. It's
usually a week or two after that happens.
