While Tatum had a stellar rookie season and looks like a future star, the re-addition of Gordon Hayward into Boston's rotation could push either Jayson - or Jaylen Brown - to the bench; something Tatum would accept if it helped the team overall. From Boston.com: Currently in Los Angeles, Tatum will continue working out before training camp begins in September. He said he is not concerned about forthcoming decisions regarding playing time, expressing the utmost faith in Stevens to do what's right for the team. He also trusts his teammates to handle the situation in stride. "Everybody has a job to do," he said. "Our job is to be the best versions of ourselves and come together for a bigger goal, which is winning a championship. Brad's job is to manage playing time and manage all sorts of stuff. That's why he's the coach. We got a bunch of selfless guys on the team that just want to win. We'll figure it out." Tatum said it does not matter to him whether he starts or comes off the bench. "I understand how deep our team is," he said. "I just care about winning and doing what I can while I'm on the floor." Regardless of where he fits in the rotation, Tatum thinks that just having some experience in the league will help him be better prepared for his second season with the Celtics. "Last year I just didn’t know anything at all," Tatum said, via the Boston Globe. "I didn’t know what to expect. Now I know what it’s like to play in training camp, be in practice, be in the league, play in the playoffs. So I’ ll have a whole different mind-set and level of being comfortable out there." Heading into his sophomore season in the league, Tatum is aiming for all-around improvement. "Really just upping my game as a whole," Tatum replied when asked how he can improve. "I just want to be able to finish more, finish better around the rim, finish through contact. I found myself losing the ball quite a bit last season, especially early in the season... Obviously getting stronger is the key, and knowing how to use my body, knowing what to expect. I have a better idea. I did better in the playoffs than I did in the regular season. As time goes on you just have to feel it out and figure it out." Tatum was so solid as a rookie last season that it becomes easy to forget that he still isn't even old enough to consume alcohol at a bar in Boston. In other words, Celtics fans should feel really good about how good Tatum could turn out to be. --
