With nearly all of their salary tied up in the Big Three, the Celtics were faced with retaining a lot for a little. Now that Posey has signed with the New Orleans Hornets and the futures of P.J. The departure of Posey will create more playing time for Allen to find his rhythm on the court, but whether he is dependable enough to earn those minutes is yet to be seen. The sharpshooting journeyman knocked down several key treys during the playoffs and is the only legitimate back up to Ray Allen on offense. House may not be the best ball handler on the team, but as long as he is consistent from downtown the Celtics have a dangerous offensive weapon on their bench. But when Celtics personnel gushed about his athleticism and defense, he seemed like a sensible addition in the wake of Posey's departure. The problem, however, is that Giddens has yet to come to terms and sign a contract. If all goes as the Celtics hope, Giddens will suit up this season and provide to provide a spark off the bench. But if Giddens continues to hold out, the Celtics could be regretting their only first round pick. J.R. Walker underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery in early July to repair the injury which dropped his draft stock to the 47th pick. It is unclear what the Celtics will decide to do with the forward and have several options to explore. They could assign him to the D-League as they did with Gabe Pruitt last season, develop him in an organization overseas, or keep him in Boston and hope he can keep up with his championship-winning teammates. The Celtics will have to assess Walker's 　surgery before they can assess his chances in the NBA. Erden is a standout in Turkey and that is where he may stay for now. Even though he most likely will not make an impact on the Celtics short term plans, the 20-year-old could develop into a big man worth bringing back to Boston in years to come.
