In the middle of a road trip on a dreary off day, Mike
Brown was looking for way to energize his team Monday afternoon.
在周一的午後，又是无趣的客场旅途，提振球员的士气是总教练Mike Brown的责任。
After a film session before a practice at the FedEx Forum, Brown promised
his players he'd call off practice if a player could make a halfcourt shot
. This isn't rare in the NBA, coaches do such things to break up the monot
ony on the road.
在灰熊主场看完敌情录影带後，Brown给球员一个机会：只要有人投进半场三分，就
不做接下来的操练，放大家回饭店。在NBA这并非罕见，总教练藉由这种方式抒解球
员在客场的压力。
Last season, Brown tried the same thing during a practice in Chicago on a
frigid day when everyone wanted to retreat to the hotel. But no one could
make the shot. He even allowed Fox Sports Ohio play-by-play man Fred McLeod
to try. So he was confident it would be seen as a goodwill gesture and pr
actice would probably take place.
而且Brown有恃无恐，以前某个大冷天去公牛主场他也做过类似赌注。结果没有球员
能办到，甚至同行的转播员McLeod也来尝试，还是失败。Brown很有把握，叫球员放
马过来。
But Anderson Varejao, who for fun likes to practice halfcourt shots at the
end of every practice, nailed one. Brown, apparently, didn't accept the ma
ke on some sort of technicality.
然而骑士队中就有这种会在练习完後，半娱乐式额外加练半场三分的人，

上投进一球，事态急转直下让Brown不敢相信。
"I wanted to put someone on the line," Brown said. "So I made a deal."
「这样下去不行，看我Brown的金头脑吧」！
The deal was, if no one made the shot the players would get their ankles
taped and have a hard practice. Previously it was scheduled to be a non-
contact practice. If someone made it, it was back to the hotel. The players
huddled and talked about it and then agreed. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was the fi
rst to take a shot.
Brown跟球员达成一个协议，如果有任何一位选手投进，大家马上开拔回饭店。反之
，则表定的轻量练习就会变成
地狱般的操练。骑士队员聚在一起讨论後，
大Z作为先
发。
"As soon as I said OK," Brown said, "Z stepped up and swished one. I had
to let them go."
Brown：「各……各位可以回去了」。
