Wearing a pink dress that was draped in bright orange organza, Blanchett said she was in the early stages of pregnancy. When asked if she was expecting, the Oscar winner beamed and said: "Yes, I am." The mother of two boys shook her head at rumours that it was a boy, saying: "You know more than me. It's early days yet. It's due in April." Blanchett made an appearance at the Hayden Orpheum in Cremorne with fellow Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush and Australian actor Abbie Cornish to promote the film Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Rush had some news of his own, revealing he's planning a project with Blanchett for the Sydney Theatre Company next year. Despite her pregnancy, Blanchett is expected to continue her role as artistic director of the 2008 season alongside her husband Andrew Upton. "We're talking about hopefully creating a project down the track for the Sydney Theatre Company," said Rush. "That's where we started together and she's running the show there. "I said 'Well, here's a couple of ideas, are you interested?' and she said 'Yeah, let's keep moving on that'." VIP guests at last night's film premiere were ferried by bus to an after party at the Cell Block Theatre in Darlinghurst. Cornish was stunning in a gown by Australian designer Toni Maticevski and a vintage 1930s diamond necklace that had been flown into the country from Rome just so she could wear it at the premiere. Celebrity guests attended the red carpet opening including Elton John's husband, David Furnish, who is in Australia working on the stage show for Billy Elliot The Musical. "I hadn't met Cate before but I'm a big fan of her work," Cornish said. "I was pretty excited just to know I was actually doing scenes with her. Not just working in the same movie as her, but to work alongside her. I really enjoyed my moments with her ... it was great fun to shoot." Cornish, 25, remains at the heart of a Hollywood love scandal after giving her strongest indication yet of a full-blown romance with Ryan Philippe, who separated from his Oscar-winner wife Reese Witherspoon last year after working with Cornish in the US. Dozens of fans gathered outside the cinema in Cremorne to see some of Australia's biggest stars walk down the red carpet.
