※ 引述《YTJEN (indigo girls)》之铭言:

I just finish reading this novel and think that there are a lot of
details left out of the movie which might be the reason that you feel that
the movie is too one dimension.
In the novel, the relationship of Charlotte and Peter is very much like
one in a million that drives Charlotte to go after Peter. In the movie,
the relationship is very much like Puppy love. As the director mentioned,
she wanted to make a movie about a woman's journey to grow up and that's
what we see in the movie. In the novel, it is a journey for both characters
(Charlotte and Peter) to mature and to survive in the world and be together
in the end. When I saw the movie, I couldn't understand how in the end of the
book, Charlotte will go back to Peter. I understand it after I read the book.
