标题[情报] Tommy John surgery to end Motte's seas

MILWAUKEE -- Cardinals closer Jason Motte will have Tommy John surgery next
week and won't pitch this season, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak
said on Friday.
Motte was placed on the disabled list with a strained right elbow on March 29
and later was diagnosed with a ligament tear. The Cardinals initially delayed
a decision on whether Motte would undergo surgery, and the right-hander had
been playing catch recently.
"Obviously, we were hopeful and thought maybe he could rehab through this,
but after throwing today, he just realized it's not getting any better,"
Mozeliak said before the Cardinals played the Brewers at Miller Park.
Motte said on Tuesday that the elbow had responded well to his latest
throwing session, which included tosses from 60 and 90 feet. But when Motte
threw again on Friday, he did not feel comfortable, Mozeliak said.
