Born on 14 May, 1994, in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Marquinhos is a product of the SC Corinthians youth academy and made his professional debut in the 2012 season, playing six times in the Brazilian first division. In August 2012, he was transferred to AS Roma in the Italian Serie A. During his very first season in the Italian capital, he imposed himself as a first-choice central defender. He made 26 appearances in Serie A and played four matches in the Coppa d'Italia, including the final against city rivals SS Lazio. Marquinhos will wear the number 5 jersey.
