Pioli set for Palermo axe Tuesday 30 August, 2011 Stefano Pioli is facing the sack just months after he left Chievo Verona to become the new boss of Palermo. Despite the fact that Serie A has yet to kick off, President Maurizio Zamparini is already pondering a change on the bench. The Rosanero have struggled in pre-season and their Europa League exit to Thun only complicated matters for the tactician. “There are some serious problems and I am very worried,” fiery chief Zamparini has openly admitted. “Things are getting worse and it is not just down to the players, it’s to do with their physical condition and their positions on the pitch. “Pioli? Nobody’s job is safe…” Zamparini, who has a reputation for hiring and firing, claimed during the summer that Pioli would remain at the club for the next five years. The Stadio Barbera patron is now understood to be looking for a replacement and former boss Delio Rossi is wanted. However, it’s being reported that Rossi is not interested in returning to the club just months after leaving Palermo himself.
