Alessandro Nesta: 6 Did seem to struggle in the opening phases where he looked unbalanced and unsure. His injury inadvertently paved the way for victory seeing as he was replaced by Materazzi. Fabio Grosso: 5 Lippi, we have a problem! Recalled to the line-up after his struggles in the first game, Grosso pushed forward but left massive gaps at the back. Seemed heavy legged. Andrea Pirlo: 5.5 Struggled badly in the centre of the park. There were no trademark searching passes and his sluggishness in possession could have proved costly. Too timid, he must do better. Gennaro Gattuso: 6.5 Took on Nedved in the opening stages with his usual gutsy performance. Always ready to close down opponents, his intelligent header almost rippled the net. Simone Perrotta: 6 Had an anonymous first half, but significantly improved after the Czechs were reduced to 10 men. Saying that, sticking him in a wide position does hamper his performances. Mauro Camoranesi: 6 Confused while playing in a free role behind the two strikers, was a little more reliable when reverted to his usual flank role. Decent, but nothing to write home about. Francesco Totti: 5.5 Admittedly crossed for the opening goal and almost scored himself, but this is not the real Totti. How many chances can Lippi afford to give him? Marcello Lippi: 6.5 The side didn't play great but a win is what counts. Made the right decision in dropping Zaccardo, the problem is that he only has one Zambrotta.
