The Sicilian outfit denied axing Ballardini, who is already their third Coach of the season, after their goalless draw with Treviso. This latest development – which is an uncanny carbon copy of events that have occurred at Treviso on Monday – leaves Cagliari fans in the dark about what lies ahead in what has already been something of a soap opera of a season. Remarkably, the word on the streets of Sardinia yesterday suggested that Daniele Arrigoni was set to make his third return to the club in the space of three months. Arrigoni left the outfit in the summer for newly-promoted Torino, only for financial irregularities to lead to the Granata's demotion back to Serie B. The 46-year-old returned to the Sant'Elia Stadium after Attilio Tesser was sacked just one week into the campaign, but left after only two games by mutual consent. It seems unlikely that Arrigoni would return for a third spell in charge of the club he led to 13th in the League last season but, after recent events, anything is possible. For now, with President Massimo Cellino on his way to Miami on business, Ballardini remains in charge of team affairs, but it is thought the controversial President will announce the latest twist in this eventful season upon his arrival in Florida.
