Manga, a Japanese form of graphic novel, are highly accessible and increasingly popular books. Much like books with diverse characters and identities, the sea change in manga’s popularity has been met with backlash from would-be book banners. And as with graphic novels and other illustrated texts, visual panels in manga books are often taken out of context with challenges often targeting visual depictions of sex, violence, and gender identity. “Context stripping,” or examining panels or images without any regard to the book as a whole, is a common tactic in misinformation campaigns against manga titles, with censorship advocates deeming them “inappropriate” or “explicit.” 本学年出现的第三个趋势，是图像小说（graphic novels），尤其是漫画（manga）作品 遭到广泛禁制。 漫画是一种源自日本的图像小说形式，具有高度的可读性与亲近性，近年来也越来越受到 欢迎。然而，就像包含多元角色与身分认同的书籍一样，漫画日益普及的现象也遭到一些 要求禁书人士的反弹。 此外，与图像小说及其他图文并茂的读物一样，漫画中的视觉画面经常被脱离原本的故事 脉络单独拿出来讨论。相关的质疑往往针对漫画中描绘的性、暴力以及性别认同等内容。 所谓的「脉络剥离（context stripping）」，是指在完全不考虑整本书内容的情况下， 单独检视其中某些漫画分格或图片。这种做法是针对漫画作品进行错误资讯宣传时常见的 策略之一。支持审查或禁书的人士可能因此将这些作品描述为「不适当（inappropriate ）」或「露骨（explicit）」。 Japanese manga artists Atsushi Ohkubo (Fire Force and Soul Eater series), Hajime Isayama (Attack on Titan series), Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha, Inuyasha Ani-Manga, and Ranma 1/2 series) and Yusei Matsui (Assassination Classroom series) all appear in PEN America’s list of most commonly banned authors. These authors’ works are often targeted for removal as entire series, meaning that all volumes in a series are removed at once — in some cases impacting upwards of 20 or 50 unique titles. 日本漫画家大久保笃（Atsushi Ohkubo，作品包括《炎炎消防队》（Fire Force）与《噬 魂者》（Soul Eater）系列）、谏山创（Hajime Isayama，《进击的巨人》（Attack on Titan）系列）、高桥留美子（Rumiko Takahashi，作品包括《犬夜叉》、《犬夜叉 Ani-Manga》与《乱马 1/2》（Ranma 1/2）系列），以及松井优征（Yusei Matsui，《暗 杀教室》（Assassination Classroom）系列），都出现在 PEN America 所公布的最常遭 禁书处理的作者名单中。 这些作者的作品经常以整个系列为单位成为下架或移除的对象。也就是说，一个系列中的 所有单行本可能会一次全部被移除；在某些情况下，这种做法甚至会影响到超过 20 部 或 50 部不同的作品。 == 说白了就是可能因为一两张图有问题，就导致整部漫画都变成禁书 加上AI审核没在看前因後果，就变得跟Youtube影片审查一样... 补充一点，美国公立学校禁书目录最多书的是德州 只能说对比当地保守风气毫不意外 --
