SLAM: Have you been in touch with Coach Woodson about what your guys will be
running this season?
CA: Everyboby knows what Coach Woodson brings. Its not about me having a say
or anything like that. It’s a matter of all of us buying into his program.
We have a team of guys who are older and have been in every situation. We
have four guys on team 35 and over, so they know what to expect. Once
everyone buys in, things will fall into place.
SLAM: Do you feel like this team and coaching staff can win its division?
CA: Our goal is to win a division championship, that’s our number one focus.
We believe we’re one of the two or three teams that’s out there right now
in the East. We just have to prove it. On paper we have pretty solid team but
we just have to but into that.
SLAM: At this stage of your career, personally, do you have anything you
still want to get better at or is it maintaining what you can do already?
CA: Everything is mental for me. Everyboby knows what I can do as far as
playing the game of basketball. Right now its about trying to win and not
having to deal with a bunch of things on the court and off the court and
being strong mentally. Its about carrying over what I learned this summer
into the regular season.
SLAM: Mentally strong personally ,like, not getting down about losses, or
your influence on teammates?
CA: It’s easy for someone to get down after losing games here in New York
where the magnifying glass is so tight on you. The pressure can be times 100
on you .You lose one game in New York and it feels like the world is crashing
down around you. We have to maintain positivity and focus in what we need to
focus on and not worry about what other people are saying.
I think when people come here, they don’t really understand the magnitude of
this place and they forget to lock in what’s at hand:playing the game of
basketball. When you start thinking about what someone else is saying and
people’s opinions, that’s when everything is going to start crashing down.
SLAM: You’ve been on two different teams in the League and have been the
best player on both them. Whether it’s LeBorn James ,Kevin Durant, Carmelo
Anthony –how much can one guy do for his team?
CA: that’s the argument people have, that’s the thing people have opinions
about. As basketball players or really athletes in any team sport, we know
that one person can’t do it all. But for us to set back and try to defend
ourselves against everyone else’e opinion of what you should be doing-win!-
and when you don’t do that that’s when you hear people’s opinion. At the
end of the day, noboby has done it by themselves. It is what it is .
SLAM:Have you envisioned a Knicks Championship parade?
CA:All the time.
SLAM: What dose it look like?
I ’ve just envisioned that moment getting there, not just the parade. I’ve
envisioned actually getting to the point where its do-or-die. It’s the NBA
Finals in the Garden and everything is going way its supposed to be going.
SLAM: Besides yourself, who motivations you? Friends, family, teammates?
CA: I ’m motivated by success, period. Seeing success and watching the
success and dealing with success before, whether in college or high school or
with the USA team. Tasting and smelling how success feels and how it tastes,
that’s my motivation. To know where I want to get, that motivates me.

Knicks
