我都这样说
When+长/短, 长/短
While+长, 长/短
While直接接的句子得要是使用进行式的(长时间-持续动作)
When後面则是可以接进行式或简单式(短时间-瞬间动作)
When the phone rang, I was doing my homework.
= While I was doing my homework, the phone rang.
= When I was doing my homework, the phone rang.
但 While the phone rang, I was doing my homework. (X)
两长则是while when皆可
While I was doing my homework, my mom was mopping the floor.
= When I was doing my homework, my mom was mopping the floor.
