Jialin, Hi. Here is some information on the group dialog assignment. For next week, everyone should form into groups of two or three people. Each group should prepare a dialog to perform next week in front of the class. Each group's dialog should use: 1. complete sentences with the tense (time) and number correct for the subjects and predicates (try to get the aspect correct in the predicate too, but that's a little harder and so it's reasonable to have more mistakes with it); 2. many of the vocabulary words from Units 1, 2, 4, & 8 in our textbook; & 3. some of the types of sentences from Units 1, 2, 4, & 8 in our textbook. Each student's part in their group's dialog should use all of the basic types of grammar and intonations we reviewed the first few weeks of this course: - commands; - statements; - yes/no questions; - question-word questions; & - pauses. Try to get the basic grammar stresses right for each sentence in the dialogs. You don't need to memorize your part in the dialogs. You can hold a copy of your dialog while you perform it, and you can look at it to remind you what to say. However, you should try to become familiar with it before you perform it, so that you can say it in a relatively natural sounding way. If you have any questions about any of this, don't wait until class next week. Please ask me before then and i'll be able to help.
