While it's easy to forget now, Santana's peak was one of the best runs of pitching baseball fans have ever seen. From 2004-2010, Santana was the best pitcher in the sport. Although Santana's $137.5 million deal with the Mets wasn't a great long-term investment, he did dominate from 2008-2010 (600 IP, 143 ERA+, 2.85 ERA) and throw the only no-hitter in club history.
