The Washington Nationals right-hander, recovering from a hip strain, tossed 6.1 breezy innings before 3,673 at Metro Bank Park to lead the hosts to a 5-1 victory over New Hampshire. New Hampshire's Deck McGuire (4-11) walked five and allowed five runs on five hits in his four innings. The Fisher Cats managed just five hits on offense. Struggling RHP Rob Gilliam was placed on the Senators' disabled list, and the Nationals signed RHP Brian Broderick, a 2011 Rule 5 pick of the Nats, after he was released by the Cardinals' AAA team. Broderick was 3-8 with a 7.32 ERA at AAA Memphis. He's expected to join Harrisburg after a couple of days at the spring training facility in Florida.
