Welcome to Season 23! (part 1)
Welcome to Michael Jordan’s season -- let’s hope it will be a legendary
one! We are pleased to announce some changes for the next seasons.
In response to requests from the community, we’re re-evaluating the effect
of Shot Blocking in the current game engine and the strength of the Look
Inside tactic. We hope to introduce a change that will address both concerns
at once. In the current engine, there are places where shot blocking is the
most useful; players alter shots close to the rim much more frequently than
anywhere else on the court. These type of inside shots are what managers
strive to create when playing an inside-focused tactic. To combat the
dominance of the inside focus, we are planning to increase the value of shot
blocking in some of these areas. Our current plan is to release the new
version of the game engine for scrimmages and private leagues starting at the
All-star break, allowing the community to help us test and finetune the
changes so that we can implement it for competitive matches beginning in
Season 24.
Secondly, starting immediately this season, forfeited games will now result
in a 0-50 score instead of a 0-25 one. The other effects of forfeited games
will remain unchanged.
Finally, we’ve received many requests to introduce a cup transfer deadline.
This is logistically difficult to implement, since national tournaments end
later in the season in larger countries, resulting in many different cup
transfer deadlines. As an alternative, starting from season 24, transferred
players will require at least a couple of weeks to get used to their new
teammates and surroundings. Newly acquired players will receive a hit in game
shape so that they cannot directly perform at their best upon arrival to
their new team, with players in better game shape receiving a larger hit than
players in bad game shape. We expect this will result in managers having to
plan their roster moves further in advance, and it should also help to
address the concern that teams can buy expensive players immediately prior to
an important match. More information on the specifics of this change will be
revealed in the future.
