标题[消息] Melvin considering calling up a DH

MILWAUKEE -- Manager Ron Roenicke wasn't about to give any names, but he did
say that Milwaukee may call up a designated hitter shortly.
The Brewers travel to Yankee Stadium on Tuesday and will follow that up with
a series against the Twins. So with an off-day on Monday and the All-Star
break coming shortly, Roenicke said that the Brewers may opt for a DH.
"We talked about the stretch of 20 games, and I really thought we needed some
guys to get off their feet," Roenicke said. "Right now that is not as
important. Rickie [Weeks] certainly doesn't need the day, and I don't think
Prince [Fielder] does, so it's not as important now. Maybe it's more
important to have that bat."
One possible player that Milwaukee may call up is
Mat Gamel. Gamel is already
on the Brewers' 40-man roster, whereas
Taylor Green, another possible option,
is not. Green has hit .308 with 11 home runs in 65 games with Triple-A
Nashville. Roenicke said that he didn't want to discuss names, but general
manager Doug Melvin seemed at ease with a decision.
"We know what we want to do," Melvin said.
Left-handed reliever Zach Braddock's return to the Brewers' bullpen has also
been discussed, Roenicke said. Braddock was optioned to Triple-A Nashville
but could be back with the team on Tuesday. Braddock previously spent time on
the DL with a sleep disorder and his recent stint in Nashville came after he
arrived late to the ballpark, something that Roenicke said hasn't been an
issue.
"He's eligible to come back and we've talked about it," Roenicke said. "His
last outing wasn't a good outing and that was two days ago. I'm hoping he
gets in there today and we hear he has a good outing."
