Braves signed LHP Mark Redman to a minor league contract and invited him to
spring training.
Jason Marquis gets $21 million and a 2006 All-Star has to settle for a minor
league deal in March. Of course, Redman had little business going to the
All-Star Game, but he can still be a decent fourth or fifth starter. The
Braves will have him battle Kyle Davies and Lance Cormier for the two
openings in their rotation with Mike Hampton out. Expect him to win one of
the jobs -- probably over Cormier -- and maybe amass a little fantasy value
in the early going, at least in 4x4 leagues.
