Lazio are believed to be interested in signing Sao Paulo defender Joao Miranda. By Stefan Coerts Sep 9, 2010 1:25:00 PM According to a report in Il Sussidiario, ambitious Serie A side Lazio are closely monitoring the situation of highly rated defender Joao Miranda, currently under contract with Brazilian side Sao Paulo. The Biancocelesti are eager to add some more depth to their backline in the January transfer window and head coach Edy Reja reportedly sees the 26-year-old Miranda as the perfect addition to his roster. Joao Miranda started his professional career with Coritiba and also enjoyed a spell with French side Sochaux before joining his current team in 2006. He has since developed into a key player with Sao Paulo. The Brazil international's current contract is due to expire in June 2011 and Sao Paulo could be tempted to cash in on the defender in January in order to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer next year.
