While there were no surprises in the Brazil line-up, Argentina coach Jose Pekerman sprung a surprise by including Diego Placente, who had not been used before at this tournament, with Walter Samuel named among the substitutes. Then Robinho twisted and turned before firing an attempt against the bar. It was oh so easy for the world champions and they fully deserved to get their hands on the trophy for a second time.
