BLUR NOMINATED FOR BEST ALBUM BRIT AWARD This week, the Brit Awards committee announced the nominees for this year's Brit Awards - happening at Earl's Court, London on 17 February. Blur's 'Think Tank' album is short-listed in the 'Best Album' category, alongside 'Magic and Medicine' by The Coral, 'Gotta Get Thru This' by recovering Daniel Bedingfield, 'Permission to Land' by The Darkness, and 'Life For Rent' - Dido's second collection of tear-jerkers. The good news is, alcohol is back at the ceremony, thankfully. BEAGLE 2...WHERE ARE YOU? Blur fans can still download the free Beagle 2 ringtone from www.blur.co.uk, despite the fact that the little one got lost on Mars. Its prolonged silence means it is surely crippled or shattered among the windblown dunes on the desolate plain of Isidis. While we were stuffing our faces with Christmas turkey, the band were holed up inside Cheshire's Jodrell Bank Observatory - waiting on word back from life on Mars. Unfortunately, as unique as the Beagle probe was, its loss confirms what many space engineers know: that space is unforgiving. As well as being good, you have to be lucky. In the end Beagle was not. WHO'S BEEN DOING A 118 THEN? OR WOULD THAT BE 100 WITH CHIPS? 'A 118 is when you walk off stage and straight onto the bus, which pulls away whilst the audience are still cheering.'
