Now a threepiece after the departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon, Blur will be joined for live dates by a full band including guitar, keyboards, percussion and backing vocals. Their career to date – from first album ‘Leisure’ and Britpop starting point ‘Modern Life is Rubbish’ through the number one’s and tabloid coverage of ‘Parklife’ to the underground stylings and commercial successes of ‘Blur’ and ‘13’ – is a history of the last fifteen years of British music in microcosm. Their legendary second stage performance at Reading in 1993 – immortalised on the 1995’s Starshaped video – was a key moment in the band’s early life. These performances are Blur’s only UK Festival dates this year , again emphasising that The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals always guarantee the best and biggest bands from both sides of the Atlantic.
