A family usually consists of several genera Chemical field 1.A group of elements with similar chemical properties. 2.A vertical column in the periodic table of elements. 中文解释起来很简单 就是"一家人"的意思罗 比如 上述这段是以sequence (或不同domain)的相似性来做分群 就以p53 family来看 目前发现的有p63, p73 等等 科学家把它们看做一家人 因为它们在C-terminal有conserved domain (可能同样祖宗) 再者在细胞中所具有的regulatory function也很类似 虽然表现位置或其他细部功能会有所出入 但以此大方向它们还是可被归类於同一群集中 在这段文字中的family 定义即是 A group of peptides or proteins with similar conserved regions, structure and functions. --
