标题[情报] 海盗冠军成员Roy Face过世

We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Pirates relief ace Elroy
Face, a member of Pittsburgh’s 1960 World Series champions.
Face pitched 15 of his 16 Major League seasons with the Buccos and was an NL
All-Star three straight years from 1959-61. Nicknamed “The Baron of the
Bullpen,” he totaled 104 wins and 193 saves (by modern standards) from
1953-1969, although he pitched mostly before saves became an official stat in
1969.
In the 1960 World Series, Face saved the first three Pirates victories before
they clinched the championship on Bill Mazeroski’s walkoff home run in Game
Seven.
In 2023, Face was inducted into the Pirates Hall of Fame.
He was 97 years old.
