Seventeen young referees attended the course which opened at 9am with Wang Xin Low from the Chinese Football Association Technical Department welcoming all delegations and participants. He thanked the AFC for giving China the opportunity to organise the festival and the referee course for seven consecutive times and urged the participants to feel at home and work hard to achieve the course objectives. Dr. Shamil Kamil, the AFC project manager, urged the participants to improve their capability and skills to be well-qualified referee in future. “The course is a remarkable opportunity for all of you to learn new skills, share knowledge and make friendship,” he said. John Chin Wah, the course instructor, stated that the course is considered an important one for the future development of referees in East Asia and in the continent. The instructor also welcomed all participants to utilise the opportunity to improve their refereeing skills and knowledge.
