来源:官网 Borussia Dortmund have passed the three million mark of Facebook fans on Monday, underlining their growing presence in social media. In Germany, BVB consolidated second place on Facebook behind Bayern Munich, who have 7.6 million followers, with FC Schalke being third with almost 700,000 fans. Borussia Dortmund already launched their Facebook presence in June 2010. "We needed about one and a half years for our first million," says David Gorges, head of New Media/CRM at BVB. "We hit the second million a year later, and the third after another five months. This is fantastic and we would like to thank all our Facebook fans!" According to Gorges, this enormous growth can be attributed to Borussia Dortmund’s recent successes on the pitch, with last year’s successful UEFA Champions League campaign that culminated in the final appearance at Wembley serving as a catalyst for the social network, thereby accelerating their international growth. For their group match against Ajax BVB added about 10,000 fans to their Facebook page, and this number grew to more than 130,000 for their two semi-final clashes against Real Madrid. "We are very happy with this kind of growth, but it also carries responsibilities," says David Gorges. As a response to the growing interest, Borussia Dortmund are planning to offer more bilingual posts in the future.
