PORTLAND, Ore. (July 13, 2022) – The Portland Trail Blazers have signed
rookie forward Jabari Walker to a standard NBA contract, it was announced
today by General Manager Joe Cronin. Per team policy, terms of the deal were
not disclosed.

Walker, 19, was selected by Portland with the 57th overall pick of the 2022
NBA Draft. He has played in three games for the Trail Blazers at the 2022 NBA
Summer League, posting averages of 13.0 points (68.2% FG, 37.5% 3-PT, 66.7%
FT), 8.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 19.6 minutes per game.

Walker (6-9, 215) played two seasons at Colorado where he averaged 11.5
points (47.9% FG, 39.9% 3-PT, 78.3% FT), 7.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 59
games (33 starts). He was named All-Pac-12 First Team as a sophomore in
2021-22 after averaging 14.6 points (fourth in the Pac-12) and 9.4 rebounds
(first in the Pac-12) to go with 1.2 assists in 33 games (all starts). He
recorded 17 double-doubles in 2021-22, ranking 10th among all NCAA Division 1
players and leading the Pac-12 Conference. Walker was a 2020-21 Pac-12
Conference All-Freshman Team selection after averaging 7.6 points and 4.3
rebounds during his first collegiate campaign.

"My dad taught me that a 'role player' isn't a bad thing. You can make a lot
of money being a role player. You can be a starter being a role player. A lot
of people don't embrace that. So that's going to be an advantage for me."

The team announced Wednesday afternoon that they'd signed Walker to a
standard NBA contract, giving him the 15th and final roster spot. It had
previously been up in the air whether general manager Joe Cronin would want
to use a roster spot on Walker or slot him into the Blazers' still-vacant
second two-way opening.
拓荒者宣布用标准NBA合约签下Jabari Walker，成为第15位球员也是最後一个格子
先前克总还在考量是否使用格子或着是双向合约
The Blazers held open part of the midlevel exception, most of which they used
to sign Gary Payton II as a free agent, in case they decided to go this route
with Walker. While there are some financial and tax advantages to the
decision to give him a true NBA contract, and that may have played into the
decision, it's tough to say he hasn't earned it.
拓荒者有保留部分中产特例，就是有考量可能会用来签下Walker，虽然大部分中产特例已
用来签下GP2。给 Walker合约的决策会有些财务及税务上的优势，也确实影响这个决定，
但很难不认同这也是 Walker为自己争取到的机会。
It's too early to say where exactly Walker will fit in what is suddenly a
crowded forward rotation. But the Blazers were impressed enough with his
Summer League to give him a standard contract rather than a two-way. Don't be
shocked if he earns real minutes by the end of his rookie season.
虽然有些过早去判断Walker是否适合在这突然成形的侧翼海轮替，但球队已对他寄予厚望
并给他标准合约而不是双向。他有能力在新秀赛季结束前打入主力轮替，到时别太惊讶！
个人短评:
Jabari Walker心态真的成熟，能乐於接受角色球员的身分，很期待他能在NBA Level发光
发热，从大一到大二的进步其实很明显，不过效率有些降低，但瑕不掩瑜，加油啦
