Aldridge back in practice, will play Wednesday
Finally, things are starting to get back to normal for the Portland Trail
Blazers.
Brandon Roy practiced Tuesday for the second consecutive day and said his
sore left heel was feeling significantly improved. James Jones was also back
on the court for a second straight practice, and LaMarcus Aldridge came back
after sitting out Monday's practice due to a hip pointer on his left side and
a sore left knee.
After a week of losing more bodies than they gained, the Blazers practice
started looking more like it was expected to before camp opened. And even
better: Blazers coach Nate McMillan said he expected Aldridge and Jones to
play in Wednesday night's preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Aldridge said his hip was painful, but not bad enough to make him sit out a
game if it was the regular season
"I would've tried to," Aldridge said. "It's pretty painful. It feels tight
when you tweak it a little bit. But I feel good out there."
Aldridge said he hurt the knee when he banged knees on separate occasions
with Joel Przybilla and Chris Ellis. He hurt the knee when Steve Blake caught
him with an elbow.
McMillan reiterated that his starting lineup on Wednesday night will be Steve
Blake and Jarrett Jack in the backcourt (no word on who will start at point
guard), Travis Outlaw, Aldridge and Przybilla.
"Because we want to look at pushing the ball, we'll probably look at quick
rotations -- maybe five-minute spurts -- and substitute guys to try to keep
them fresh," McMillan said.
SEVEN IS ENOUGH?
The Blazers were cut short a preseason game this year, getting scheduled
seven games instead of the usual eight. But that's perfectly fine with
McMillan, who said eight games is twice as many as he would normally like to
play.
"I think it's a lot of games," McMillan said. "I think seven is a lot of
games. I would prefer four, five games before we get into our (season), we
should be able to know what we have in that amount of games. You know,
financially, all the teams in the NBA, they're able to make a little more
money by playing more games. So it's a lot of games. The NFL is going through
the same thing -- too many preseason games, the coaches feel, but the league
is who is in charge. So we've got to follow that."
MCMILLAN IMPRESSED WITH GREEN
When asked if there were any players in the last week who had impressed
McMillan to the point that they might get more playing time Wednesday night
than otherwise would be expected, the coach singled out rookie point guard
Taurean Green.
"I think Green has had a pretty good camp," McMillan said. "Taurean has
really done a really nice job of fitting in and running the team and knocking
down shots and really just adapting to everything we've given the team. The
entire team has worked this training camp, but Green is a guy that I'm
anxious to see out on the floor against the NBA players."

Aldridge归队了,他的伤势看起来没什麽大碍,明天可以先发出战快艇队,
Roy和James Jones的伤势也好转,已经恢复正常练习。
Jones最快明天也能出场比赛,
而Roy虽然伤势已无大碍,不过球队为了保护他可能不会让他在热身赛上场比赛。
还有...McMillan看起来真的很喜欢Taurean Green XD
对他可是赞不绝口!
虽然Green是後段顺位挑进来的,大家对他期待度也比较低,
但还是希望他能有好表现,至少当一个称职的替补球员。
